It's been quite a long time since my last post... LOL oh well...

So, yeah, this will be a life update.

Calista and Ursula have both moved out. Calista's been living with Cody and his parents (and more recently, Cody's oldest brother, Philip). Ursula first moved out right after graduation last year. She moved in with her cousin, Olivia, as they had planned for years prior. However, the situation was not what she had intended as Olivia had made arrangements to share an apartment with two (a couple) classmates. That wasn't working out at all, as the guy thought he was their father or something... so, Ursula moved out into a studio apartment for $425/mth. That would have worked out great had Ursula been able to get a job. She was having to go back and forth to Mama's Fried Chicken in Opelousas! So, I finally convinced her to just move back with us. Well, she moved her things in her old room; however, she's been staying with Hunter in Opelousas :-/.

Brief update about Calista:

She and Cody are engaged. They want to wait to marry and start a family until they have their own place (they don't want to rent). Can't blame them for that. Calista will be 23 this month and Cody just turned 22 in December. She wants to be a sahm mom :) He has a good job and has been saving money since they live with his parents. His parents love Calista! I love it! I'm so happy for her! Shucks, they love Ursula too LOL Ursula will go hang out with Cody... which is great because they didn't get along for a long time! hehehe Now, it is definitely like they're (we're) all family. Calista quit working at Mama's Fried Chicken on Landry after like 3 years. She will still go in from time to time if they call and she's off, for cash. She went to work as a cleaning lady at a Nursing home in Arnaudville for like 3 mths, but quit that after a few incidents that she didn't want to have to continue to deal with (scheming co-workers & a close call with one of the residents appearing to have died). So, an opportunity came up to work with Cody's brother, Philip, in Lafayette, at a parts store. She'd be able to ride to and from work with Philip. She took the job and she loves it! She has plenty of free time. She's in the stock room; stocking products. She has also been taking commissions to do art (such as tattoo artwork). So, she's still doing artwork and artistic projects (like jewelry). She got her conceal & carry permit last weekend. We bought her a handgun for Christmas :) Calista had bought her own car (Toyota Camry) a couple of years ago. Cody's great-grandmother had died and no one needed a car from the family, so, they offered it to Calista for $2000! It was a great buy as it still has under 100,000 miles on it! She has her own insurance and pays it. We pay for her phone service still.

Brief update about Ursula:

As mentioned above, she graduated last year; she's 19 years old now. She was like #30, so, she pretty much landed right in the middle of her class of 60 LOL She had completed her two school years in cosmetology which leaves her with around 900 hours (I think) remaining. She was going and actually did, attend cosmetology school in Houma when she moved down, but, ended up not continuing due to the situation of things (Covid "pandemic" and Hurricane Ida). As of right now, she's employed by Mama's Fried Chicken on Landry once again (started there right after turning 16), and is working 6 days a week. Hunter, her significant other (they aren't saying that they're bf/gf), is also working there as well as Bellard's. They're living in Hunter's stepmother's house in Opelousas. She has intentions to complete her hours for Cosmetology; she says she has like 5 years. IDK when she'll want to do that... but, hopefully, she does! I'd love for her to have a skill to fall back on if need be! I'd love that for all of my children, of course! Ursula paid for her own car too (2006 Toyota Matrix). We pay her insurance and her phone bill; she pays for her phone.

Brief update about Wyatt:

Wyatt's 16 now. He's had invitations to sleep over at his friends' houses this year! I'm glad he's making friends and being social :D He's in 9th grade (yes, should be in 10th). He's doing better in math (algebra), but still having issues in English (English 1) :( He has grown up so much in the last 3 years! He's about 5'8" now. Wears like a 9.5 shoe, 29x30 (but, they're getting short now), and a man's size small shirt. Man size now! Where did my sweet baby boy go??? His attitude has gone to the dark side on occasion (thanks puberty!), but he is still a sweet boy to me sometimes. ha ha He'll come sit with me in the recliner sometimes. We bought him a gaming PC Christmas '20 and he hasn't touched his XBox since! LOL He wants to work at Mama's also (they've been asking for him since he was 14), but, I told him I can't allow him to work until his grades are better! Of course, he'd love to start with driving lessons and all, but again, he needs to improve his grades. And, omg, his handwriting is AWFUL!

Brief update about us:

Well, this past week, someone hacked my bank card and spent about $600 at apple.com! Our bank (Hancock Whitney) was on top of it, but, the money hasn't been returned to us as of today :( Thankfully, we do have money in the bank! Last night, on his way home from work, the Cougar broke down (rear end) and I (along with a visiting Ursula) went pick him up in Livonia from Soprano's. He had arranged with his friend, Chris, to tow it back to his place today. Chris has like 2 lifts in his shop; nice, huh? So, as of now, we're down to one car. He will be using the Genesis until either the Cougar is fixed or he buys another car. I'd rather get a truck (so we could haul things), but, they're soooo expensive now! It's insane :( We asked Calista if I could borrow her car until we have two working cars again and she's fine with that (she barely uses it anyways).

Turner (been there around 6 years now; altogether, much longer), said they'll be working 7 days/week this month. Guess we'll see if that actually comes to fruition.

July 29th 2019 is the date we bought the 2013 Hyundai Genesis. Its a really awesome car we all love it. :D

We still live in the same house in Opelousas that we've been in for 20 years now :-/ Our landlord seems to be going downhill though. He's my parents' age. He tries to stay active. He gets confused about things now... like whether we paid our rent (thankfully we pay by check, so that's easily shown) and what electric bills he pays.

Update on the state of things:

Covid 19 "pandemic" (plandemic) hit early 2020. Totally ridiculous. Has ruined our economy. Has ruined children's schooling and socializing experiences. Then, unfortunately, the people who are in control, put Joe Biden in as president and he has further led our nation to its demise. I actually feel bad for him. He is not operating in his full mental compacity; seems to have dementia. He is a puppet. The powers that be are working to destroy this nation. Trying to get us under socialism, and ultimately, communism. Hopefully, enough people will wake up and see how messed up things have been and change it. Seems like if things keep going as they are, people will revolt and there'll be an uprising; anther civil war. Watching dystopic movies is like watching what our possible future could be. Idiocrasy seems to be a document instead of a movie made in 2006.

Update on me:

I started working July 29th, 2019. I applied and got the job as a driver for Waitr. Pay was $5/hr. plus tips. I really, really enjoyed my job! I hadn't worked in 20 years as I was a stay-at-home mom for all those years! I started looking once Wyatt turned 12, but, I needed certain hours as I wanted to be available in case any of my children needed me! And Waitr turned out to be a Godsend! I was promoted to Tech Installer Driver after a few months! I then made $9/hr plus tips. I'd be doing maintenance on all of the iPads at the Waitr partners in Opelousas as well as installing new iPads with new partners and teaching them how to use them. Again, loved this job! Made really good money. Then, Waitr decided to do away with hourly paid drivers and go the way of other "gig" platforms and have us convert to independent contractors. I waited to convert as long as I could, but eventually did around April/May 2020. Around this time is when "Covid" hit and delivery drivers were some of the people who were deemed "essential" and we continued to work. Let me tell you, it was a good time! We were making good money; staying busy! And then, Waitr decided to inundate all their markets with way too many drivers. Offers/orders started being fewer and fewer for drivers. I barely worked last year... made a whole $6000 in 2021... way less than the combined amounts of hourly and IC from 2020 of $22,000. I also did other platforms though. UberEats and DoorDash came to Opelousas. I did those as well. I love UE. But, their orders aren't very abundant here in Opelousas :( I love UE because they pay their drivers well! I can do an order for $21! Whereas, Waitr's guaranteed minimum is $5 and DD is even worse. I've been offered $2 and $3 DD orders :( Not gonna happen. My acceptance rating for DD is super low.. LOL

I'm still on BP meds. I started going to the Aspen Clinic in Lafayette and got on phentermine again. However, I really feel that either they changed their recipe for them or I'm getting a placebo because it feels like I'm the one doing the work and its definitely not working like it had back when I had taken in my 30's. I haven't been doing any regular exercises yet. I know I need to.. .just not feeling it. The Aspen Clinic doctor wants me to do cardio, no weigh training yet. What's been making a difference is watching my carb intake. My current weight is like 169lbs. I'll be 49 this April.

Update on Jeremy:

He's "on the wagon" again since December 2020. I've told him that if he starts drinking again, that's it. I'm not/I can't stay with him. Every time he starts drinking, it has gotten progressively worse. Should he start again, I'd really be in fear of my life. Seriously. He's been vaping CBD? or whatever is legal in Louisiana... its from Hemp. It works. He's a much happier person using it.

Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-8380923353731059222018-10-04T18:41:00.000-05:002018-10-06T11:25:12.856-05:00Health UpdateI qualify for Medicaid now, so, I signed up and now have a primary care physician, here in Port Barre; well, a combo of 3 different people, all under the same roof.

Main reason? I was told that Medicaid will pay for a breast reduction if certain criteria is there... I believe I'll qualify.

I've been to the little clinic (I guess that's a good term for it) three times so far. They drew blood the first visit. My weight was 170lbs. I was called in to get a second blood draw to check my parathyroid hormone because my calcium levels are low. At that appointment, my blood pressure was 150/100. I spoke to one of the people, Dustin (I think he's an RN) about my allergies (they've been so bad this season! As has Wyatt's - who, prior to this summer, NEVER had any allergies!) I told this Dustin person that I had a reaction to something around my eyes in the last several weeks; each time, it had gotten worse. I think it was the cleaning cloths that I used to remove the mascara from my eyes. Anyways, he gave me a script for 5 days of Prednisone (steroid to shrink any swelling in my nose/eyes area). He also gave me a script for Zyrtec. I have been taking them for a week now, once a day, and feel so much better! I haven't tried to put any make up yet though... guess we'll see how that goes when I do...

Today, I had an appointment as a follow-up to my blood work. My thyroid is fine (yay!). My vitamin 12 levels are fine. Low Vitamin D and Calcium levels. My good cholesterol is high (which is good) but, so is my bad cholesterol. It was 200 and they want it at like 170. She said that it is probably genetic because usually, if someone's bad cholesterol is high, their good is really low. So, she can see that we do eat healthy. My blood pressure was 124/100. Both times, on both arms. So, now, I'm taking Lisinopril - HCTZ 10-12.5m daily. I also am taking Vitamin D 1.25(50,000 UN) once a week. She told me that I either need to drink almond milk or take a calcium supplement.

She (Rhonda Bergeron - I think she's a nurse practitioner) also put in an order for me to get a mammogram. She said not only would it see if there's anything to worry about (cancer), but, also help with making the case for a breast reduction. Just this once, I'll do it. Cherie had one.

Rhonda said to continue eating breakfast and/bananas (helps with blood pressure). Start walking (or exercise) for at least 30 minutes a day.Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-1979040057346008292017-07-18T22:12:00.001-05:002017-07-18T22:12:42.904-05:007 Days
Today makes 7 days since starting Phentamine. I am under 170 lbs! Tonight, I weighed in at 168.8 lbs. The morning of our doctor's visit, before eating, I weighed myself at home at 176 lbs. After one meal, and going to the doctor, I weighed 178 lbs there. So, I'm either down 8 lbs or 10 lbs in a week! Woohoo!

I hate cheating... but, I hate being this size way more... lol

Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-44361382396369761782017-07-11T15:26:00.001-05:002017-07-11T15:27:08.496-05:00Phentermine
So, yes, I'm doing this again! I just can tolerate being this big! I weighed in at like 178lbs at the doctor's office yesterday!!! I wear a size 10 or 12. My boobs are ginormous! My most recent bra that I've bought is a 34K! And then, I have to fix them in there to fit without having "DT's" (double tits)! The electrical thing they do to measure fat and all shows my visceral fat is at 10. They want it under 9. Jeremy went too. His visceral fat is 15! He weighed in at 202lbs.

So, we have both started phentermine today. Doc suggested 1/2 a pill a day for the first 4 days... to get acclimated to them. And then half in the morning (like, between 8-10 am) and then the 2nd half around lunch (12-2 pm).

I have used this before with great results, so, I'm excited to be my normal weight again!

I'm thinking I'm going to stay with it until I am at my desired size... then, every few months, get another script to maintain.

That's 15 lbs down!!! Woohoo! I definitely recommend the paleo diet to most anyone! I can't wait to see what the end of the 2nd month looks like!!! 😁

Side note: Since starting this "diet"/way of life... I've been sick twice! The first, was a bad cold... and right now, I've been sick since this past Saturday (a week ago)... seems more like an allergy since my eyes seem to be more involved... but, maybe just another cold. Coughing fits that make me vomit sometimes. No fever for either illness. Mostly coughing and nose blowing... keeping me up at night 😬

I am not 10 lbs under than what I started! I began 2017 at 180lbs! In less than 3 weeks, I'm 170lbs! Just cutting out carbs and beans! I'm so thrilled! Ecstatic! I can see my future positively now!

Jeremy is also still doing it; mostly... lol But, he's down 9-10lbs too! So, he's happy about that. I think he'd more better progress if he'd quit alcohol again. :-/ I really hate that he's drinking again. He becomes irate, irrational, loud, belligerent... hate it!

Spaghett squash is the bomb! Cauliflower is so versatile! Ghee is good but expensive. Coconut flour is clumpy if you try to use it to thicken sauces. Coconut milk is absolutely delicious!Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-48171177508266317752017-01-11T09:17:00.002-06:002017-01-11T09:17:39.581-06:00Paleo - Finished Week OneSo, yesterday marked a week on the paleo diet. My weight is 172 lbs this morning! That's amazing! I haven't seen that number in quite some time!!! I did a little research and found that it is typical to lose 5-10 lbs that first week, but not to get discouraged if that rate doesn't continue because, what happens is that you're losing water weight. Carbs retain water. However, just because you may not experience such dramatic weight loss week after week, you should experience a general decline over a long time. And, I'm fine with that!!! Actually, I'm setting my sights on losing at least 10 lbs a month (yes, I can actually see that happening for the first time in my life! ((well, to be fair, it's only been the last 8 years I've been having weight issues; so, not all of my life... but, you know what I mean))) I plan on doing some exercises too; so, hopefully, that will hasten the weight loss :D Jeremy weighs 194.7 lbs last night; he was happy! :D He isn't sticking to the diet as strictly as I am. Looking up more info on the paleo diet, I found that there's a group that practice primal paleo; which, included dairy. That's what Jeremy is doing. He could do without the dairy because of his sensitivities to it... but, one step at a time! :D

I've been using the site, PaleoLeap, for reference... lots of recipes too!

I'm so happy with this diet! No pills... just clean eating!Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-46194742970692329952017-01-05T20:35:00.000-06:002017-01-11T17:35:09.065-06:00Paleo Diet

We (Jeremy and I) just finished day 2 of the paleo diet. It really shouldn't be to hard to stick with. It's mostly getting rid of glutens. Kind of like the Atkin's Diet, but, you can eat a good variety of vegetables and fruits.

Yesterday and today, I ate 2 eggs with bell pepper, onion, seasoned with Tony's Chachere; today, I added tomato to them :)

For dinner last night, Jeremy put pork chops in a casserole dish; covered them with hot sauce, onions, bell peppers, broccoli, and seasoning. Cooked until meat was done. Really very tasty!

Tonight, I put chicken thighs in the Ninja slow cooker. Added onions, bell peppers, chopped tomatos, a little Sriracha sauce, and chopped carrots. Also pretty tasty; the kids liked it! :D

Jeremy stopped at the store on the way home from work and picked up some groceries. He bought more coconut oil, almond milk, coconut milk (in cans - tastes so yummy), and spaghetti squash, etc...

I have to say that I'm soooo happy that Jeremy is doing this with me! Makes it easier to continue and avoid the "no-no" list of food! We both need to drop some weight! He hovers between 195-200 lbs and I've been hovering around 175-180 lbs! UGH!!! We have to change something!!!

My online friend (whom I've met in real life twice), Sasha, has lost 60 lbs in a relatively short time and has kept it off with this paleo diet! Since I've met her in real life, I know how she looked... so, I know she's isn't lying (not her nature anyways! lol). Her progress has been amazing!!! She started this year at 99 lbs! Of course, she is a little shorter than I am, but, still! She looks great! I'd be happy to lose 40 lbs! More than 40 would be awesome though! Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-54458609660099970882016-11-21T18:03:00.000-06:002016-11-21T18:06:53.384-06:00Thankfulness?

With Thanksgiving around the corner, it has me thinking... What I'm thankful for? I'm thankful for the 2017 to begin... because 2015-2016 has probably been the worse time in my life! :(

Where to begin?

Summer of 2015. My uncle, who I hadn't seen in a few years because he lived and worked in Africa, comes home to the states because he's experiencing extreme pain. Goes to the hospital. Finds out he's dying of cancer.. all over his body. He passes away not long after coming back... I never had the chance to see him. So, we go to his funeral in Mississippi. My sister comes down with her kids. Her oldest, Arielle, comes down with her then husband, Dustin, and their son, Elijah. That was a highlight, since we didn't get to see him very often. They stay at my sister, Angele's house, in Thibodaux, along with us.

School begins in August 2015. Wyatt restarts 3rd grade :-/ Yay for common core... highlight: we went to the Cracklin Festival in Port Barre for the first time. Kids had a great time.

Thanksgiving 2015: Jeremy made another Thanksgiving Dinner and we had family over. Had a good time! Friday; we, the adults, are drinking and having fun. At some point, Jeremy decides he needs to go get more alcohol. He doesn't come to a complete stop at stop sign on his motorcycle. And the only other vehicle on the road is a cop! Jeremy has a brain fart and decides to outrun the cop. He speeds for a few miles and then comes to his rational state of mind and pulls over. They bring him to jail :( This incident eats up a lot of our money :( And Jeremy had only started drinking again shortly before this... he had quit for like 5 years :-/

Christmas break: Last day before Christmas break, Ursula's best friend and off/on boyfriend for a few years, Jean Todd Duos (14 yrs old), dies instantly in a 4-wheeler accident :( We go to his wake and funeral. He's buried on Ursula's 13th birthday :(

New Years: Highlight. We go to Angele's house and Aimee and her kids are able to be there as well! We had a great time but miss not having Arielle and Elijah there :( We make quite a few YouTube videos... of the kids doing contests and singing.

Mardi Gras 2016: We, once again, go to Angele's. There's a parade that passes on both ends of the street she lives down! Great position! We're preparing to have a great time that week! My kids have that Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off; and I think we left Friday, after the kids got home from school. Aimee came down, alone. Arielle and Dustin are going through a divorce. No one knows if/when she's coming or what. There was talk about her friend, Christine/Tina coming along for the ride if she decided to make the trip. Early Sunday morning, February 7th, we get a devastating call from Arielle. She's been in an accident and Elijah is dead :( We make 2 trips back and forth to Georgia in a week. He's buried on Calista's 17th birthday :(

Jeremy's work: Not sure when it began (but, its before summer break), but the company he works for I.P.S. (a Turner company) has 3 waves of lay-offs. He makes it through them and remains a pipe-fitter. However, everyone who's left, can only make 40 hrs/week :-/ This move leaves our bank account bleeding. It's only since the last few weeks that he's made some overtime and our bank account is on the mend.

To top off this wonderful year; I've put on a ridiculous amount of weight :( :( :( So, we're the poorest we've ever been and I'm the heaviest I've been excluding pregnancies...

So, HOPEFULLY, 2017 will bring about POSITIVE changes/vibes!!! PLEASE!!!Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-10472829146426009302016-08-24T10:34:00.001-05:002016-08-24T10:34:47.003-05:00iHeart App Woke Me
Sometimes, I listen to talk radio via iHeart radio in bed. I set the sleep timer. I don't use iHeart radio to wake me up though; I use my phone's clock alarm for that (so I can wake up the kids for school). However, on two different occasions, iHeart radio has come on AFTER going off from the sleep timer! The other day, I think it was Monday, it came on at 4:30 am. Last night, it came on at 1:14 am. WTH? What does that mean? Maybe a dearly departed trying to let me know they're still around? I'll post again if it happens again...

since Thanksgiving) holidays, I am trying to make it a habit to go 5x a
week.

Flashback... I had gone down to like 143lbs thanks to
Slim-Vie (also working out regularly). I was so happy! But, after like
3 mths, it just stopped working! I kept taking one a day for months,
hoping it would start working again... but, nothing. So, after months
of nothing and even slight weight gain, I upped it to 2 pills a day.
Well, after about a week, I got my first ever case of heartburn (that's
what I think it was anyways). Hurt sooo bad! Started around 2 am.
Lasted for a few hours. And it happened every night for like a week. I
think it was Slim-Vie that caused it because during the heartburn week,
I stopped taking it and concentrated on taking other things that would
alleviate the pain... baking soda and water, apple cider vinegar and
water, Galvascon, apple juice, apples, etc... Anyways, it finally went
away. And I started taking Slim-Vie again and next thing you know,
heartburn! So, I stopped taking it and put it high on a shelf.
Heartburn went away. So, that's why I think they're connected...

Well,
then the weight really started piling on.. even though I said up there
that I wasn't going to the gym regularly, I was still going... 2 to
4x/week... maybe miss a week here and there... wasn't going like I had
when I first started - 5x/week.

So, yesterday, Monday, February 29th, I started going back with the intent of going 5x/week again.

I
also decided I'm going to do more cardio. Start with 20 minutes of
elliptical (both yesterday and today) and then do circuit training in
the women's workout area... doing all body parts everyday that I go.
Using heavier weights. I've done 2 circuits yesterday and today. I
plan on doing 3... maybe next week. Then, afterwards, more cardio.
Yesterday and today, I did 20 minutes on the recumbent bike. Today, I
also did 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Today, I did 3 sets of leg presses with 30 crunches in between each set.

Jeremy
and I were discussing our weight gain... he's over 190lbs... I'm over
160lbs! :-0 So, I told him that perhaps we need to lighten our dinner.
So, last night, we ate breakfast... I had 2 eggs, 2 toast bread, and 2
pieces of ham. Drank Super Dieter's Tea both last night and the night
before. I plan on drinking that every night too... at least, for now.
I hate having to write this. My heart grieves so much for him. My Great-nephew, Elijah is no longer with us. Only 2 1/2 years on Earth :(

Let me back up... tell the story...

The first weekend of February and 3 days following were going to be such a fun time for our family! As it was the time that Mardi Gras fell on this year, the kids had 3 to 5 days off of school; depending where you live. My kids had 3 days off while my sister's and brother's kids had the whole week off.

I had made arrangements to bring my 3 children to Thibodaux; my sister's, Angele, house. She lives right in between where 2 parades pass... easy walking distance; not even a block. And since she and Shane live in a big house, we weren't the only ones that would be staying there. Racquelle and Mason are already living there since they attend Nicholl's State University; which is also walking distance away from Angele's house. My sister, Aimee, had already been down from Georgia for a week. It was possible that Hal would be bringing the 4 kids he had (he hadn't given us a nay or yay yet). And Arielle had planned to come down too... possibly with a friend or two and Elijah. Mom was already there as was Margie, Shane's mom.

I left our house Saturday, after lunch, to head to Angele's. It's over an hour away... about 120 miles away. Got to her house. Relaxed for a bit... they already had some provisions for the weekend... chips, chicken to BBQ, sides, and even some drunk gummi worms and bears! It was going to be a great weekend! Oh, and before I left my house, I had emptied all my pictures off of my Canon Rebel XT... I was prepared to take lots of pictures; or let my kids take pictures... it was going to be great!

Saturday evening, Angele, Aimee, Olivia, Ursula, Calista, and I went to Big Lots to see what else we could get... and also since I don't get to go to Big Lots too often (there's one in Lafayette... but, I hate going... traffic sucks most of the time out there). Wyatt stayed at Angele's so he could play on their Xbox. The girls were having a good time in Big Lots... making funny videos with these funny Valentine bears that talk... Angele bought 3 of them (all that they had left) so we could continue making the videos. She had intended to bring them back the next day.

We get back to Angele's... stay up for a little bit longer... then go to bed. I slept in Racquelle's room with her 2 cats: Ellis and Romeo. They rouse me with their play time in the early morning. So, I was already awake when Olivia rushed into the room to tell me Arielle was on the phone with her mom, Aimee, and that Elijah was dead. My heart dropped. I immediately left to go see Aimee. Sure enough, she was on the phone with Arielle. She had gotten into a terrible accident and she said Elijah's head had been bashed in. :( The accident had only happened like 15 minutes prior. She was still at the scene. Aimee was also able to talk to one of the EMT's. Apparently, an ambulance was there within minutes... but, Elijah died on impact :(

Arielle had started stripping about 6 months earlier because they needed the money... she was working and going to beauty school but her husband wasn't (and hadn't the whole time they were married) pulling his weight. For quite a while, Arielle was working two jobs and going to school as well as being a wife and mom (even still nursing Elijah!)... So, Arielle, started stripping. Well, she had worked Saturday night because she hadn't made much money Friday night. I'm saying this background so that you know, she was used to the hours... her body was used to the hours. So, after working Saturday, she started driving early Sunday morning... but, by the time she got around Montgomery, Alabama, she decided she should nap. She stopped at a rest area and took a two hour nap. When she woke up, she drank an energy drink and started back on the road... the accident took place less than 10 minutes later, she said. She doesn't know what happened... just she remembered seeing 18-wheelers on the sides of the interstate and wondering why they were there when there were
at least two rest areas that she had passed... and next thing you know, she comes to, looks behind her to check on Elijah, and sees his toes... blood on them. She jumps over the front seat to go to him. He's already gone... she holds his head... said she was trying to put his head back together (I'm thinking the bones were broken in his skull and that's what she was feeling) and she thinks she felt his brains out the back of his head... :( All of that happened within just seconds... before someone was pulling her out of her vehicle. There were witnesses that stopped to help. A woman pulled her out and kept her away from her vehicle. Arielle said she was clawing the ground to go back to Elijah. :((

Arielle was brought to a hospital in Montgomery. Physically, besides bruising, both internal and external, she suffered only a broken collar bone. Aimee, Shane, and Angele immediately got dressed and drove up there. Aimee called Hal to let him know (first time she had spoken to him in probably over a year). Arielle said that Dustin wouldn't pick up his phone (she tried calling him). So, he learned of what happened via his parents. Arielle was put on pain meds. Angele said you could tell when it would stop working because she'd roll her eyes back in her head and have a pained expression and start bawling... Shane had to go back home because he owns his own masonry business and had to work Monday; so, he and Angele left. Hal and the kids went to see Arielle in the hospital as did Dustin with his parents. Hal, Donna, and the kids slept at a nearby hotel that night. Aimee stayed in the room with Arielle. Arielle begged Dustin to stay, but he wouldn't.
Angele, Cherie, and I left for Alabama Monday (left our kids with Shane, Jared (when they weren't working), Mom, Margie, Racquelle, Mason, and Calista... we were trying to get there before Arielle would be released so that we could bring her home... they were without a vehicle... Aimee's was still in Thibodaux. Well, she was released around 2 or 3 (I forget) and we were still like 4 hours away. We were trying to decide what we were going to do. See, originally, we were going to pick her up from the hospital and turn right around and head back to Louisiana. But, she changed her mind... and wanted to be there for the funeral arrangements. She said, I just know they'll want to put that stupid train conductor's outfit on him! (Which, btw, they did want that!!! We laughed to ourselves when they stated that at the funeral home). Well, then, we decided we'd pick her up and sleep the night at her house in Kennesaw and then we'd bring her to the funeral home in morning. The hospital wouldn't allow her to stay in her room and we didn't think it would be comfortable to wait for us when her friend, Tina, was there and could bring Arielle and Aimee back to Georgia. We got Tina's moms' address and met up with them there. We actually got there about 15 minutes ahead of them because they had to stop and get her prescription filled; which took much longer than they anticipated. Hydrocodine (I think that's it).

We spent a little time at Tina's moms'... and then we brought Arielle and Aimee back to Arielle's house. We slept there. Got up early morning to be at the funeral home for 9:00 am.

Aimee, Angele, Cherie, and I joined Arielle at the funeral. We sat in while the arrangements were made. Wake and funeral was to be Saturday, February 13th... Calista's 17th birthday :( But, it had to be a day when others could be there... especially from out of state. Oh, we had Arielle's cat, Arwyn, in a cat caddy in the back of my van! lol Poor thing! It actually snowed that day (Tuesday, Feb. 9th)... lightly... but, still... We left that evening to get back to Louisiana.

We left Friday evening to go to The Hampton Inn in Kennesaw. We slept there 2 nights. We had 4 rooms altogether. My dad drove up with his girlfriend, Nancy, Veronica, and Sophia. They left Friday morning. Another couple of carloads left after lunch. And the last 2 carloads (which included me) left after the guys (Jared and Shane) finished working. And yes, Jared was able to get the kids a little bit earlier; had to bargain with Jessica :-/

When we got to the funeral home, Elijah's casket was open but his knit hat was covering his head/face completely. Arielle and Aimee had gone in earlier, to see if he was presentable... Well, Arielle decided he wasn't and pulled the hat down. Aimee told me that he didn't look like himself... nose was wrong, eyes weren't in the right position... like too far down or something like that... and he had fake eyelashes... just looked wrong. However, we could see the rest of him. Poor sweetie.... looked so big in that coffin. I never touched a dead person... but, they (I forget who... maybe Soleil) convinced me. I took his hand... it just felt like he was sleeping with cold hands... wasn't too rigid; too cold. Precious hands. Not long after that, the funeral people closed it for good. An hour or so later, Dustin's family came in.

So many came. I later remarked that I seriously doubt I'll have that many in attendance for my own funeral (not like I'd ever know...).

Racquelle did an excellent job singing for Elijah's funeral! So proud of her! This was her first song; requested by Arielle.

Soleil read what she had written earlier... I think the second day after his death:

Mason found this song online after the accident. It's called Mother by Built Of The Architect. He and Racquelle practiced and practiced. She did so well... especially under the conditions... added to the fact she doesn't like singing solo in front of crowds...

The funeral was nice. I mean, as nice as it could be... It was my first (in my memory) baby funeral... I hope to not have to attend another one though... funerals are hard enough when death is expected...

His Obituary:

Elijah Storm Baird, more affectionately known as "Stormy," was born on
June 16, 2013 to his proud parents, Dustin and Arielle. He was a happy
child who expressed his love openly. Stormy could act shy to some
people at first, but was always quick to open up and loved giving out
kisses.

He was a very adventurous and social child who enjoyed
"bear," "choo choo," and singing some of his favorite songs including
"He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," "Itsy, Bitsy Spider," and "Five
Little Monkies Jumping on the Bed."

Stormy was very polite and
made sure to say "bless you" at every opportunity. He shared everything
that of his from toys to food. Feeding times were always a group event
as he would be sure everyone else were fed as much as himself.

He
was also known to be an active child who rarely cried. He loved
running, dancing, and any game like soccor involving a ball that he
could kick or play with.

Stormy will be remembered for his
uplifting spirit and ability to spread love. Each of his family members
loved him tremendously. His aunts and uncles were very close and
special to Stormy.

Survivors include his father, Dustin Jay
Baird, and mother, Arielle Serenity Chiasson-Baird, both of Marietta,
Georgia; grandparents, Tonia and her husband Ronald Baird of Acworth,
Georgia, Aimee LeBoeuf Chiasson of Marietta, Georgia, and Harold Joseph

Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. Funeral Services will follow at
1:00 PM at Northstar Church in Kennesaw with Pastor Mike Linch
It has been so super hot here... heat indices have been 100-115 degrees... just like walking out into a mild oven when you step outside.

So, it's been kind of hard to get the grass mowed in a timely fashion since we have a push mower; a nice one... but, still takes way more time than a riding one. So, a little after 4pm, I go outside, and decide that maybe I can get a little weedeating in being that it was slightly cooler than earlier that day and there was a breeze. And then, perhaps start mowing... well, I heard several loud BOOMS. I thought, wow... that was loud... what kind of gun is that??? Because it's not unusual to hear gunshots where I live. So, I start weedeating. After a few moments, I hear sirens. So, I stop. They sound close. I look around and see a huge black plume of smoke!

So, eventually, the smoke cleared.. in the meantime, I see more than the usual vehicles down our road and neighbors walking to the front of the street (towards the smoke).

We, the kids and I, walk to the front (Wyatt rode his bike), and there's the accident! An 18-wheeler heading towards Opelousas on HWY 190 had a blow out and ended up going through the medium, and hitting the house that faces 190 to the right of our road! It took off the front left corner of the house and then it blew up!!! Thankfully, the driver got out before it blew up and the father and his 2 kids were able to get out their house as well! All 4 went to the hospital with minor abrasions.

This was all that was left of that truck! And look at the house! There's bricks and cement all over the yards and road... and even burnt leaves all the way in our yard - thanks to the wind!

Here's the link to the story on our local ABC station: KATC

So, this whole time this was playing out, I was informing my family via mass text (dad, Aimee, Angele, Cherie, and Jared) as well as Jeremy.

After we walked home, my dad sends a message that our Uncle Adrian has passed away :(
He had recently returned to the states from Africa, where he's been working for decades, due to him feeling badly. This return was either the end of May or beginning of June. He had cancer; in 3 different locations (if not more). The most painful was on his spine. He had lesions on his brain. And I can't remember where the 3rd was... I think his lungs?

They tried to treat him... started with radiating the ones on his spine. So, for about two months, the doctors tried helping but, ended up sending him home with Hospice this past Wednesday. We (my dad, siblings, and us) had figured we'd be able to go visit this weekend... but, no. Just like my grandmother/his mother; passed away within 24 hrs at home with Hospice :(

It just really sucks because I hadn't seen neither him nor my Aunt Peggy since my grandmother's death in April 2005 due to him working in Africa and when they'd come to visit the states, they'd usually just go to Mississippi to visit her side... and we usually didn't hear of them coming down until after they'd left and shared pictures.

So, I don't know when the arrangements will be yet.

Just sucks.

I only had 2 blood-related uncles and one blood-related aunt.

So, even though there's not much difference in these two stats... I do see differences... my legs are smoother. I had rippling/cellulite on the front of my legs... it was gross. It's much smoother there now. I also had the same thing going on with my upper arms; they're also smoother... mostly smooth with definition starting to be evident.

I usually do 10 minutes on the elliptical, do my work out, then come out and do 50 minutes between the recumbent bike and the treadmill. Yesterday, I did my 10 min elliptical pre-workout. My work out. Then, I did 20 minutes on the elliptical! I then moved to the treadmill and did 30 minutes on that.

Another thing I've been doing is switching up my weights and reps from week to week. Like, I'll do lighter weights, more reps one week and then do heavier weights, with at least 10 reps, 3 sets.Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-81417189070209404132015-03-30T10:07:00.001-05:002015-03-30T10:16:31.859-05:00Fitness Update
The last couple of weeks, I did lower weight with higher reps on all machines and free weights.

This week, I'm doing more weight, increasing weight until 3rd set... 10 reps at least.

I have also been doing 20 minutes on the recumbent bike; I think that's helping break through the fat! Haha. 10 minutes on the elliptical before weights... 20 minutes on the bike... and 30 minutes on the treadmill - with a mile of that on 10 elevation. Sometimes life run after that... sometimes I just walk fast.

I am about the same weight; between 156-160lbs. Guess it takes a while to see major results when you've accumulated a good layer of fat :-P

I put the treadmill on 10 incline and walked got a mile like that at like 3.4 speed. I lowered it back to 0 and started run/walking series for 2 miles... alternating every one minute. For the last time to run, I just continued... I didn't stop after that minute was over as usual. I just kept on! I went a whole 5 minutes (at 5 speed) without stopping!!! That's HUGE for me!!! A whole quarter of a mile!!! I feel so accomplished! I've never done that! Not even as a teen, weighing 110lbs!!! Feels amazing!

I just continued until I had a full hour on the treadmill as you can see on my picture :-)

Yesterday and today, I did a mile on 10 incline... today I went a little faster than yesterday; did about 3.4. After that inclined mile, I lower it all the way down and do my run/walk for 2 miles. I run at 5.0-5.3 for a minute than slow down to 3.7-3.8 for a minute. That is about 40ish minutes; so, almost my 50 minutes. So, today, after my 2 miles miles of walking/running, I raised it to 5 and walked at 3.7-3.8 until 49 minutes. I then lowered it all the way down and slowed to 3.3. I burned 400 calories (see pic).

Roxylean doesn't seem to be doing crap for me. Kari, (Jeremy's cousin) just started Plexus... I think I'll convince Jeremy to let me try that.

I don't see anything special about the Roxylean I've been taking. I even take it without eating and I don't feel any different. I have been taking a post workout powder in my water that I bought from the local health food store, called Protein 2Go by Designer Whey. 10 grams of protein, 50 calories, made with Stevia.

I've taken it before but it was a different formula. Wonder how it'll work... I know I liked it before. Guess we'll see. I've been taking it less than a week so far.

I also went to the local health food store and bought a buttload of clearance items! It was great! I added up the regular prices and it came out to over $300! I paid $30 for all the clearance items! woohoo! And some of them had to do workout stuff! yay!

I was 156 lbs this morning; naked.

I've been doing 10 minutes on the elliptical. Then I do my work out (legs & abs one day, upper body and abs the next). Then, I started doing 50 minutes on the treadmill. Some days (like yesterday), I run/walk. Today, I just walked for 50 minutes.

When I run/walk... I do it one minute intervals. I have done it up to 2.5 miles! woohoo! When I do this, I walk at 3.7/3.8 and run at 5.0-5.5.Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03773583685106588796noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10809965.post-19111941139845306442015-01-28T12:36:00.001-06:002015-01-28T12:36:20.140-06:00My Earbuds
I really like these WiFi earbuds! I live how they actually STAY IN MY EARS!!! haha. I could never keep other ones in...
I can listen to Walton and Johnson, Alex Jones, iHeart radio, etc while working out :-) And no cords interfering with my work out!
