Genealogy

I've been creating an online genealogy chart for my family! I've found and inputted over 300 people already! Dating back to the late 1600's, France! I am not even close to finishing. Its really neat/interesting :D

My mom is totally into genealogy! She's been doing it for as long as I can remember and has tons of binders full of charts from before there were computer programs that did it for you. She found out that Lady Godiva is in her family tree. In my dad's line was a woman who was killed for being a witch. That one's a funny story.

Wow, that's pretty cool about the stuff your mom found out!

My mom's mom was into genealogy and actually traveled all over the world to find our relatives. The bad thing is that we really don't know where the documents she found are located since her son has been living in her house since she died way back in 1986. And I was so young at that time that I didn't really ask her about stuff like that... the closest I did was bring out her old photos everytime I'd go visit and she'd point out who was who in there.

Mom used to visit old graveyards looking for relatives. I remember when we were still living in El Paso, one of our summers was spend driving from graveyard to graveyard all over the southern states. She had big pieces of chalk she rubbed on headstones to bring out the text then taking pictures. It was the most boring "vacation" ever.

I guess I'm weird... I like visiting graveyards... LOL I just find them interesting; esp. if my relatives are buried there.

My Nanna (my mom's mom, who travelled to Europe and all to find our relatives) would also bring me to the local cementeries... she'd bring flowers and stuff and show me different people. It was just so neat to me.

Now, I don't know if I'd want to spend my entire vacation doing that... LOL

But, I do miss my Nanna a whole lot... she died right before I turned 12 yrs old. I wish she would have lived longer... I could have practiced my French on her (and my Paw-paw) and asked more in depth questions about our heritage and all that jazz...
